I am a lifelong Madison resident, and I completed my Bachelor of Social Welfare (’13) and Master of Social Work (’15) at UW-Madison. As a student, finding community through the Native American Center for Health Professions, the Indigenous Student Center, Wunk Sheek, and American Indian & Indigenous Studies helped me connect more deeply with my Métis heritage, and lead me to a career centered around growing spaces where students thrive in community. This included work with the STREAM program in the UW-Madison School of Nursing. When I took my current role in 2021, the impact of the STREAM program on student success was my inspiration for expansion of similar programming to undergraduates of all majors across campus – the NDGNS UW program.
Areas for mentorship and guidance: As an MSW, I enjoy working with students who are interested in Social Work and Social Welfare. I am knowledgeable about the Indian Child Welfare Act, and trauma-informed practices in social work. I have over a decade of experience in career development, and am happy to share what I know about developing a resume, cover letter, or preparing for interviews!
